2011 ANNUAL REPORT

Promoting Jacksonville Area Amateur Golf Championships Since 1954

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

With the wonderful support of our member clubs, directors and Jacksonville area golfers, JAGA was able to accomplish a number of important operating and administrative initiatives during the year. The Championship Tournament schedule was expanded to include a Match Play Championship. The event was established in response to suggestions from participants in the City Amateur. They felt this type of format would provide an interesting and different competitive challenge. JAGA introduced a shared golf calendar that lists the tournament schedules of JAGA, Senior Interclub Series, FSGA and Northern Chapter PGA. The calendar has been helpful in setting tournament dates by minimizing the risk of scheduling conflicts.

JAGA directors volunteered as “on-course” scorers at the 2011 Underwood Cup Championship. This is an annual competition between a professional PGA team and amateur team. A JAGA marketing brochure was introduced to be available as an information piece on its programs and activities. JAGA directors participated in a special military awareness program by purchasing “JAGA Freedom Friday” shirts to show its support for our military personnel.

The JAGA Charitable Trust (501 (c)(3) organization) - Scholarship Fund - received approval from The Players  Championship and Winn-Dixie Nationwide Jacksonville Open to be a participant in their charity programs. All funds raised from both of these events will be contributed to the Scholarship Fund. JAGA also applied for and received an IRS designation as a (501 (c)(4) organization).

JAGA installed a new QuickBooks financial software system to automate its financial records. The system will facilitate the preparation of financial reports and the filing of annual tax returns.

I would like to thank everyone for volunteering their time and talents that were so important to make it possible for JAGA  to achieve the success it had in 2011.

We all look forward to a great 2012!
