Directors Meeting Minutes
Jacksonville Beach Golf Club
January 18, 2005
Vice President-Administration Lee Crowe called the
meeting to order at 10:35 A.M. with 33 Directors and 7 guests present. Head
Pro, Boots Farley, welcomed us and made some brief comments regarding the
golf course. Lee presented Boots with a plaque acknowledging his
contributions to JAGA.
Acting Secretary, Barney Posten’s minutes from the
Cimarrone Golf Club meeting were approved as posted.
Treasurer, Jerry Kay was absent, but Bill Black
reported that the treasury balance is $9,413.27. Checks were presented to
the scholarship fund by: 1st Coast Golf Association for $178.75, Timuquana
CC for $2,900.00 and Quail Heights MGA for $300.00.
Lee Crowe introduced Mike Lynch and Darren Doer
who have formed a company, Golf Marketing Concepts, Inc. Their mission is to
help golf courses with marketing decisions, golf outings and connecting
golfers to courses. They will return to our next meeting in February and
give a presentation regarding their business.
Vice President-Tournaments, Jim Edwards, reported
all tournaments have been scheduled, except the Mixed. He and Earl Kelly are
investigating the feasibility of holding this tourney. Jim indicated JAGA
would hold a Two Man Best Ball Tournament at San Jose Country Club on
October 3, 2005 as a one-day event.
Tournament Chair, Joe Power, told us the Senior,
Super Senior and Grand Senior Tournament is scheduled for April 4-6, 2005.
Tournament Chair, Barney Posten, reported the
Father’s Day Tournament would be held at Hidden Hills CC on June 25 &26.
Vice President-Administration, Lee Crowe, reported
that all the monthly meetings have been scheduled for this year. Next
month’s meeting is at Sawgrass Country Club and golf play will be tee times.
Past President, Don Haws, presented ‘Red Gossman’
service awards to Earl Kelly and Tom Tierney for all their support of JAGA.
No New Business was brought forward.
Vice President-Administration, Lee Crowe, lead an
open discussion of suggestions for JAGA in 2005.

Ed Witten recommended that we publish an article in each issue of
Golf News under the byline JAGA Corner in order to promote our
image and organization. He will form a committee to implement it.

Don Barker reminded the board to be consistent in publishing all
meeting dates.

Arch Copeland asked the board to promote JAGA’s 2005 goals and
objectives on a regular basis.

As a result of Ed Witten’s suggestion, Arch Copeland will make
permanent nametags for all the Directors.

Lee Crowe indicated that a letter would be mailed to all Directors
reminding them to be active in the organization and volunteer to help at our
tournaments.

Joe Power suggested all Directors become actively involved in
their respective Men’s Golf Associations in order to promote JAGA.
Bill Black presented Past President, Don Haws,
with a logoed JAGA golf shirt reflecting his title.
Pairings Coordinator, Bob Streightiff, told the
Directors that Ed Tormollen has assumed this responsibility and Ed gave the
golfers their hole assignments.
The meeting adjourned at 11:20 A.M.
